About EntryPolicies — Global Passport Power & Visa Database
What We Do
EntryPolicies is an independent, open-access reference for global passport power and entry requirements. We aggregate visa-free access data, eVisa requirements, and border entry policies into a single, fast, and transparent directory covering every United Nations member state.
Whether you are a traveler checking if you need a visa for your next destination, a digital nomad comparing residence options, a researcher analyzing global mobility inequality, or a journalist fact-checking a visa policy claim — this database is built for you. No paywalls. No accounts. No tracking.
Our Data
The passport index powering EntryPolicies is sourced from the open-source Passport Index Dataset, which aggregates official visa policy data from government sources, IATA Timatic, and bilateral agreement registries. We parse, cross-reference, and present this data with the following enhancements:
- Structured format. Raw CSV data is transformed into searchable, sortable HTML tables with clear visa status indicators — no emoji, no ambiguity.
- Statistical summaries. Each passport and destination page displays visa-free counts, eVisa counts, and requirement breakdowns so you can assess mobility at a glance.
- Regular updates. Our data pipeline is updated on a rolling schedule. The current dataset covers 95 passport-issuing countries × 95 destinations = 9,025 bilateral relationships, with active expansion toward 195×195 United Nations full coverage.
- Editorial verification. Automated data parsing is supplemented by manual review of high-traffic routes and policy change announcements. We flag anomalous entries and cross-check against embassy websites for the top 50 travel corridors.
We do not claim to be an official source. Visa policies change — sometimes without notice. Always verify requirements directly with the destination country's embassy or consulate before booking travel.
Editorial Standards
Our 12 long-form guides — covering Schengen rules, ETIAS, US visa denials, digital nomad taxation, and more — are researched and written following a structured editorial process:
- Primary source review. We work from the legal text: EU regulations, US Immigration and Nationality Act provisions, bilateral visa waiver agreements, and official government announcements. Every guide links to its source documents.
- Timeliness. Each article carries a visible publication date. We review and update guides when underlying regulations change — for example, when ETIAS implementation dates shift or when new digital nomad visa programs are announced.
- Practical orientation. Our guides are written for people who need to act on the information — travelers planning itineraries, nomads evaluating residency options, applicants preparing visa documentation. We prioritize actionable guidance over abstract analysis.
- Correction policy. If you identify a factual error, contact us. We correct verified errors within 72 hours and note the update date on the affected page.
Funding & Independence
EntryPolicies is self-funded through affiliate partnerships (SafetyWing travel insurance) and non-intrusive advertising (Google AdSense). All revenue is directed toward maintaining the database, researching policy changes, and keeping our content free for everyone. We do not accept payment for passport rankings, visa requirement listings, or editorial content. Our recommendations in long-form guides are based on independent research, not commercial arrangements.
Affiliate relationships are disclosed in compliance with FTC guidelines. A commission from an insurance recommendation does not influence which insurance products we recommend — we recommend SafetyWing because it meets the specific needs of long-term travelers and digital nomads, including Schengen-compliant coverage.
Who We Are
EntryPolicies is maintained by a small team of researchers and developers who believe that global mobility information should be free, accurate, and transparent. Our backgrounds span data engineering, immigration policy research, and international law.
We are not a government agency, an embassy, a law firm, or a visa processing service. We do not process visa applications, provide legal advice, or intervene in consular decisions. We provide information. You make decisions.
